I have been investigating alternative living for several reasons.
First of all, I live in Texas now but I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area; spending most of my summers at the beach in Santa Cruz as a teen. Needless to say, the high temperatures and horrible humidity levels of Texas are difficult on me. I always said that I would melt if I ever moved to Texas, and now here I am…and I’m melting.
I’ve been looking for an underground home because the temperatures underground are more constant (and cooler in the summer). Then I learned that there are towns in Australia that actually build homes underground because of heat. With this in mind, I did a YouTube search and found interesting ideas for underground housing.
I also wanted housing that I could hide underground in when the chaos breaks loose from the economy collapsing and the dollar crashing. People will be angry at the government when that happens, and with the class war the Democrats have managed to create to make people accept Socialism instead of Capitalism, I know people will be stealing what they need (as they did after Hurricane Katrina). I don’t want to be exposed to all that chaos because of a dream I had thirty-five years ago. The kids and I hide underground as chaos went on in the streets above me so underground housing is enticing to me.
I also found Cal Earth Adobe Homes that are made from dirt. They were very interesting and the one big one was beautiful to me. I also liked being able to add on to the home as the need increases. These homes are impervious to flood, fire, and wind.
The box car homes were interesting as well and a good idea, especially for living in the mountains or underground. Also, homes made from bales of hay were interesting and beautiful. One could do a combination home, with a small conventional home above ground and one hidden underground for storage and emergencies.
I hope you will watch these videos and get some ideas from them. Perhaps you will find something that you can do. Let me know if you do, and how it works out.
Thanks, and good luck,
Judy
